The Ohio Council of Community Schools (OCCS) sponsors 47 charter schools across Ohio ensuring they are legally, financially, and academically sound.
OCCS is a student-centered organization advocating excellence in education through strategic partnerships. We seek partnerships that allow schools to not only thrive but innovate and hold high standards for ourselves and others. We consider ourselves more than a sponsor. We ensure all students have access to high-quality education options and help make sure our schools meet requirements that govern testing. We employ regional representatives who liaise with the school board.
We're a resource for schools' improvement, providing guidance, opportunities for professional development, and clear, data-driven feedback. Our schools can rely upon us to provide additional resources, information and opportunities for collaboration, innovation and growth.
If a student chooses to leave one traditional public school for another public (charter) school, funding goes to the new school, which is now responsible for educating that student.
