Two OCCS Sponsored Schools Named Ohio Schools of Promise

Congratulations to Arts and College Prepartory Academy and Columbus Prepartory Academy for being named Ohio Schools of Promise and Schools of Honor.

Each year the Ohio Department of Education recognizes outstanding schools that maintain high academic achievement among their students, despite many coming from economically disadvantaged circumstances that can make learning difficult.  This year, just 29 schools were named Schools of Promise and Schools of Honor.

“Even as expectations rise, these communities continue to beat the odds,” said Dr. Lonny J. Rivera, interim state superintendent of public instruction. “Students of every background and ability level deserve the opportunity to succeed, and I’m especially proud of the difference these schools are making in the lives of Ohio’s students.”

The Ohio Council of Community Schools is proud to recognize Arts and College Preparatory Academy and Columbus Preparatory Academy for receiving this honor.

“These schools make no excuses for achievement.  And through hard work and high expectations, ACPA and CPA see success year after year for all students,” said Lenny Schafer, OCCS executive director.
