Walleye Partnership: 2019-2020 Season

The 2019-2020 season of Toledo Walleye Hockey marks the third year of partnership with the Ohio Council of Community Schools. The hockey program gives Toledo-area schools the opportunity to learn basic hockey skills from the Walleye players themselves.

In previous years, the Walleye players traveled to our school gymnasiums and playgrounds to interact with students. More recently, the kids arrive at the Huntington Center, home of the Walleye, to become a Walleye player for the day. Students are invited participate in the event as a reward for academic achievement, literacy, attendance and good behavior.

The day consists of drills and games on the ice, stick-handling instructions, a Q&A session with the team and ends with signed jerseys for everyone to take home.
